Trat – The Night Market. This market, located just a little further along from the covered one right in the centre of town, runs down a single walking street, with shops on one side and an open square on the other. The stalls themselves are crammed between in three rows, with all the foot traffic single file only, the whole place bustling with activity.

Wat Buppharam

The Plai Khlong Road turn-off from Sukhumvit Road, one of Trat city’s main highways, leads you to this famous temple that dates back to the Ayutthaya era. Believed to have been built some time around the mid-17th century, the temple has notable features including the wooden Viharn, said to be the oldest of its kind in the country, and the murals displaying Rattanakosin influences. An onsite museum features various statues of the Buddha plus ceramics of Chinese and European origin.

The City Pillar Shrine

Located on Lak Muang Road, the City Pillar stands in a Chinese-style building. Erected by King Taksin, it is a highly revered edifice for the townspeople and many locals and tourist come to see this shrine.
